VectorCAST has supported the Green Hills Software (GHS) tool chain since 1996. The VectorCAST/RSP for the GHS tool chain provides an elegant and automated integration to all versions of the GHS compiler and MULTI debugger regardless of the target processor.
Test cases can be run on production hardware, evaluation hardware, or on the GHS instruction set simulators. Regardless of the target used, or the target connection employed, VectorCAST provides a unique and sophisticated integration that allows for push-button test execution.
In addition to supporting the GHS tool chain; VectorCAST also has the most full featured and complete integration with the INTEGRITY Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). This allows unit and integration test environments to be built using the same partitioning scheme that is used for the deployed application, including support for running tests in the CoreOS partition, a dynamically downloaded application partition, or an application partition that is part of a monolithic image.
Most importantly VectorCAST supports not only the full-featured INTEGRITY RTOS, but also the INTEGRITY-178B variant as well as the multicore configurations for Asynchronous Multiprocessing (AMP), Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP), and Time-variant Unified Multiprocessing (tuMP). The 178B variant has significant restrictions, in that only a portion of the C and C++ run-time environments are supported. This necessitates an adjustment in the test harness code that VectorCAST generates when creating test environments. Additionally, the I/O mechanisms are limited when using the 178B variant with address spaces.
