VectorCAST® Test Automation Platform now supports the latest versions of LynxOS and LynxOS-178 from Lynx Software Technologies

Aviation Electronics Europe, Munich, Germany, 20 April 2016 – Lynx Software Technologies, a world leader in the embedded software market and Vector Software, the leading provider of dynamic software testing solutions for embedded systems, today announced an integration between the LynxOS family of real-time operating systems and the VectorCAST test automation platform. VectorCAST now supports the dynamic testing of mission-critical LynxOS applications, including those deployed on LynxOS-178, the only RTOS to be awarded a Reusable Software Component (RSC) by the FAA.

LynxOS-178 is the first and only DO-178B and EUROCAE/ ED-12B level A certified operating system to offer the interoperability benefits of POSIX® and support for both the ARINC 653-1 Application EXecutive (APEX) interface and the FACE™ (Future Airborne Capability Environment) security and safety profiles. LynxOS-178 has been awarded the first and only FAA-accepted Reusable Software Component (RSC) as defined by Advisory Circular 20-148. As an FAA-recognized RSC that meets the objectives of RTCA/DO-178B, LynxOS-178 may be used on more than one project without having to regenerate certification artefacts. Due to its modular architecture, LynxOS-178 is also the only COTS solution available which is able to support multiple processor architectures, including Intel® and PowerPC®, with a common set of certification artefacts.
