VectorCAST® Test Automation Platform now supports the latest versions of LynxOS and LynxOS-178 from Lynx Software TechnologiesApril 20, 2016
Aviation Electronics Europe, Munich, Germany, 20 April 2016 – Lynx Software Technologies, a world leader in the embedded software market and Vector Software, the leading provider of dynamic software testing solutions for embedded systems, today announced an integration between the LynxOS family of real-time operating systems and the VectorCAST test automation platform. VectorCAST now supports the dynamic testing of mission-critical LynxOS applications, including those deployed on LynxOS-178, the only RTOS to be awarded a Reusable Software Component (RSC) by the FAA.
Commenting, Robert Day, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Lynx, said, “LynxOS-178 offers developers a significant time to market advantage for safety-critical aerospace, defence and other applications by supplying OEMs and system integrators with proven software and artefacts that have previously been certified. The partnership between Lynx and Vector Software will minimize customers’ development effort and risk by providing a streamlined path for creating any further artefacts they may need. As the VectorCAST and LynxOS tool environments both support the standards-based Eclipse foundation, the integration and subsequent use is a very straightforward process.”
William McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer of Vector Software added, “VectorCAST is an essential tool that supports the dynamic testing of mission-critical applications in industries such as aerospace and defense, avionics, automotive, industrial, medical and transportation. Our partnership with Lynx enables companies that are building safety critical applications on LynxOS and LynxOS-178 to easily access VectorCAST's broad spectrum of automated testing capabilities, including unit, integration, and system testing as well as code coverage analysis.”
LynxOS-178 is the first and only DO-178B and EUROCAE/ ED-12B level A certified operating system to offer the interoperability benefits of POSIX® and support for both the ARINC 653-1 Application EXecutive (APEX) interface and the FACE™ (Future Airborne Capability Environment) security and safety profiles. LynxOS-178 has been awarded the first and only FAA-accepted Reusable Software Component (RSC) as defined by Advisory Circular 20-148. As an FAA-recognized RSC that meets the objectives of RTCA/DO-178B, LynxOS-178 may be used on more than one project without having to regenerate certification artefacts. Due to its modular architecture, LynxOS-178 is also the only COTS solution available which is able to support multiple processor architectures, including Intel® and PowerPC®, with a common set of certification artefacts.
Vector Software’s VectorCAST solution is deployed worldwide to test automotive, aerospace & defense, business critical, medical, industrial embedded software so that it meets the same rigorous safety-critical standards. VectorCAST helps embedded system developers to cost-effectively comply with standards including DO-178, ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 regulations and deliver high-quality software products to the market with decreasing cycle times.Press Release: Lynx and Vector Software partner to provide dynamic testing tools for mission-critical LynxOS applications
