A growing number of countries have identified the potential in the embedded software development industry and set their policies accordingly, according to a recent VietNamNet Bridge report.

Vietnam has much to gain by investing in this field, given its current outsourcing status, the report said.

Currently, Japan is home to the largest embedded software market in the world, according to the report. Vietnam has close economic ties with Japan - the Southeast Asian nation is currently Japan's third-largest software outsourcing partner.

Given existing ties with Japan, as well as the considerable business potential in the embedded software industry, Vietnam is well-situated to export embedded systems to the Japanese market, according to the report.

Embedded systems are incorporated into a variety of largescale projects and devices. Medical device software, aerospace software and defense software are all potential fields in which Vietnam, like many other countries, may wish to compete.

As with developers in any country, those producing embedded software in Vietnam would do well to utilize embedded software testing tools, to ensure the products they are supplying are safe and reliable.
