Massimo Bombino To Teach Computer Systems Course at Middlesex University, London
Massimo (Max) Bombino, Vector Software’s Regional Manager, Italy will be Visiting Professor at Middlesex University, London. In collaboration with the Computer Science Department’s Senior Lecturer, Nikos Gorogiannis, Max will assist with creating the curriculum for and teaching the Correctness of Computer Systems class. In this course students are taught to develop advanced debugging techniques and apply them to software systems, as well as apply and master open source industry-standard tools for finding bugs in software. Topics include:
- Tests, code coverage and other code metrics
- International and national standards for system correctness and related processes
- Absence of bugs vs presence, and techniques for proving them
- Safety vs liveness, reachability vs termination, and other correctness concepts
- Industry standard tools used for verification and correctness in certification process
Max will apply over 20 years of expertise in software test and certification to teach students the foundations and practical skills in employing industry-standard tools for verification of correctness and all steps involved in the certification process. He will also be instrumental in reviewing the current Computer Science syllabus to ensure that correctness and certification are addressed at the beginning of students’ careers and co-supervise final year students with projects related to verification and certification of computer systems.
Vector Software is pleased to have Max take part in academia where he will help students learn about the importance of high quality software that meets safety standards.
Outside of the classroom, Max will be teaching a workshop in Rome with industry certification veteran Vance Hilderman this fall – Intro and Applied Avionics Certification Training. Click here for more information.
