Embedded Testing with Patient Safety and Reliability in Mind

In order to gain U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval on it's COGNIS® CRT-D device, Boston Scientific needed to test and certify the system's embedded software.

To meet FDA compliance, Boston Scientific used VectorCAST/C++ with MC/DC for test automation and repeatability.

The Boston Scientific COGNIS® CRT-D is the smallest, thinnest high-energy CRT-D in the world, featuring innovative technology with exceptional longevity. This full-featured device was designed, built and tested with patient safety and reliability in mind and is among the world's smallest and thinnest high-energy devices at 32.5 cc while less than 10 mm thick.
