Most industries move fast, but the automotive space’s pace over the past five years is dizzying. On the software side of the embedded automotive market, the rate of change is also accompanied by equally challenging regulatory standards. Since automotive embedded software is a safety-critical element of every newly manufactured vehicle, many organizations are struggling to form a plan about how to comply with ISO-26262 test requirements for automotive software systems.

Luck and timing. These are the best intangibles to have when you launch a new software product, and based on the response to the new integration announcement we made at Embedded World 2015 with our partner Wind River and their Simics platform, it was perfect timing.

Sometimes, when you are on the road, you are treated to splendid scenery. Even in the middle of an extremely busy day, I find it important to take a minute or two to admire the view. After all, it is a privilege to be here.
Now, I won't tell you exactly where I am this time, so if anyone wants to take a bet, please send me an email. We are playing for bragging rights only. But Chris Hall cannot play, you will understand why later :-).
Also, a hint - I am in a country with a very intimate relationship with technology. They even have automated order yakking machines in some restaurants (human employees just need to cook and fetch what you what you ordered).

Every year at Embedded World is successful for us, but this year especially stood out because of the amazing amount of collaboration among the entire Vector Software global team – from marketing to development to QA – to make the show a huge success.
Speaking of Collaboration, we launched and demoed VectorCAST 6.3, an IoT- and M2M-ready embedded software Test Collaboration Platform that enables development teams to share tests across the entire software development lifecycle. Organizations can have both: higher quality software and faster time to market. Customers, partners and prospects really liked what they saw.

After many days in Bangalore, I am ready to come back home. Weather here was superb, just like in southern CA. Of course, it is the end of what locals call "winter" - a nice 25 degrees (Celsius), day and night.
From there, it will get progressively warmer. Our architect, who will join me in April, doesn't know it yet, but it will be hot! Still, Bangalore never gets extremely hot or muggy (locals say the weather has its own central air conditioning - once it hits 35 degrees, a thunderstorm comes, and cooler air sets in).
Speaking of heat, a hot topic these days is Change-Based Testing (CBT). In multiple meetings last week, I heard challenges that CBT helps organizations overcome, like: "We need to be productive", "We need to deploy a scalable testing and quality assurance... Continue reading »

Today I joined a portion of the Vector EMEA team at the Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany. This show always has a great flow of current and prospective customers, and our FAEs did a great job showcasing the VectorCAST 6.3 features.
