What’s New in VectorCAST 6.1 – Part 3

In What’s New in VectorCAST 6.1 – Part 1 and Part 2, I detailed the improvements we have made in this release for ease of use and the enhancements to address specific customer testing challenges. 

In this post I would like to highlight the data aggregation improvements. Specifically, VectorCAST 6.1 provides the following enhancements to VectorCAST/Manage:

Aggregated coverage metrics – VectorCAST/QA environments can now be included in VectorCAST/Manage projects. This means that users can now have a single "roll-up" report that summarizes code coverage on a file basis, regardless of whether the code coverage was achieved during unit, integration, or system testing. Cover environments display their coverage status just as unit test environments do in VectorCAST/Manage. Their data is included with other coverage data on the Files tab, and with the reports available from the Files tab.

Improved workflow – When a VectorCAST/Manage project is created, the build, execution, and coverage results from each environment are immediately displayed, being taken from the original location of the environment. Subsequent builds of environments take place in that same location, not in the VectorCAST/Manage project's work area. Once QA is ready to take ownership of the environments, they can be migrated so that they are built and executed in the VectorCAST/Manage project's work area.
