What’s New in VectorCAST 6.1 – Part 2

 

Last week we released VectorCAST 6.1. In What’s New in VectorCAST 6.1 – Part 1, I detailed the improvements we have made in this release for ease of use.

In this post I would like to highlight a group of enhancements that help our customers address common testing challenges. Specifically, VectorCAST 6.1 provides the following enhancements:

MC/DC masking – VectorCAST can perform MC/DC analysis and equivalence pair reporting using MC/DC masking as defined in the FAA CAST Position Paper-6. This is in addition to unique cause MC/DC analysis that was supported previously. This feature is of particular interest to those projects performing DO-178C Level A software certification... FDA Paying More Attention to 510(k) Submissions with a Software Component

I recently attended the Medical Device Summit in Boston. Probably the most interesting presentation I heard was from a Regulatory Affairs manager at GE Healthcare. He said he has submitted well over 100 510(k)s, and over 70 of them had software.

Just in the last year or so, the FDA has been pushing back on software submissions. This is apparently a direct result of the FDA’s hiring of 200 new reviewers that have software experience.

Vector Software announces VectorCAST 6.1

At the kickoff of Embedded World 2013 this week we announced the 6.1 release of VectorCAST. This is an exciting time for us at Vector Software and we are thrilled about the enhancements and new features included in VectorCAST 6.1. The 6.1 release contains the following improvements that will be welcome by our customers:

Easier aggregation of code coverage data across all test runs, in all phases of testing (system, integration and unit testing); including trend analysis of coverage metrics over time.

New GUI features such as “undocking windows” to support multi-monitor usage, single click filtering of test cases, and a new unit test dashboard.
