At the embedded world Conference, the brightest minds of the Embedded Systems community are sharing the best, most efficient and secure solutions for upcoming challenges. "Securely Connecting the Embedded World" is the theme of the embedded world Conference 2017. The combination of 15 classes and 36 sessions over three days enables you as a conference attendee to take home a maximum of know-how.

Presentation: Dynamically Proving That Security Issues Exist

Niroshan Rajadurai
Executive Vice President EMEA, Australia, New Zealand

Date: March 14, 2017Time: 3:30 PM - 4:00 PMLocation: Exhibitor's Forum, Hall 4, Stand 4-422

While static analysers have given great benefit in processing and automatically checking large swathes of code, they still suffer from a high false-positive rate.

In this talk, Niroshan will discuss an approach based on the "synthesis" of executions leading to specific software issues (i.e., the automatic construction of a dynamic test to exploit a potential vulnerability), a technique sitting at the intersection between static analysis and fuzz testing. By leveraging upon dynamic (unit) testing, it is possible to validate issues produced from a static analyzer. This enables confirmation of errors, reducing the workload of the engineer, providing focus on the subset of errors which are demonstrably exploitable.
