Vector Software Inc.

Welcome

Welcome to our fall newsletter. The past quarter has been a busy one, as we enter our 15th year selling test tools. We have added additional sales personnel in the U. S., engineering support in Europe, and we are getting ready to move our US headquarters into larger office space. Thanks go out to all of you who have collaborated on the new posters that can be seen on our web site. These posters may look like marketing material, but they also represent a true partnership between Vector and our valued customers. Our continued success is the result of a constant focus on our customers.

The coming year marks the 15th anniversary of the release of the first VectorCAST product. The product line has evolved significantly over the past few years. We have invested heavily in our parser technology and in automated regression testing, as well as new products for requirements tracking and test campaign management. We consistently hear from our customers, that the primary reasons they choose the VectorCAST products are for our market leading technology, and for our outstanding technical support.

As we see new tools enter the market, we notice that many of the product data sheets describe products that seem very similar to VectorCAST. What sets us apart, however, is the underlying technology. If we haven't spoken to you in a while, please contact us so we can provide a technology update demonstrating our latest products.

Coming Soon: VectorCAST 5.0
VectorCAST 5.0 is in beta test. Contact your sales representative for information on obtaining a copy.

Highlights
  • Stubbing on a per-function basis
VectorCAST/C++ version 5.0 has the ability to dynamically stub functions defined in the source or header files of a Unit Under Test or any dependent unit. This feature allows you to use either real or stub code for any UUT function in any test case without having to recompile the test harness. When a function is selected for stubbing, you have access to all of VectorCAST's smart-stubbing features which allow input data to be captured and control of output data. This new functionality is available without writing a single line of test code.

  • Wizard Based Import of CSV Data
A new wizard has been added to VectorCAST to allow CSV data files to be converted into VectorCAST test cases. Using this wizard, you can easily make the association between columns in the CSV file, and particular data items in the test case editor. This feature will benefit users who maintain test cases in excel files, or automatically generate test vectors from a modeling tool.

  • Global Object Filtering in Test Case Editor
VectorCAST 5.0 enables you to filter out global objects that are not referenced by the subprogram under test. Additionally, when you click on an object, any functions that reference that object will be highlighted in the test case editor. This feature greatly simplifies test case creation when many global objects are defined in your environment.
