Ada development is alive and well thank you!

I have been out visiting customers and potential customers over the last two weeks and I am happy to report that Ada development is alive and well! I met with five different companies in all and three of those companies are still doing a lot of Ada development. In some cases, projects were inherited in a new contract award; while in others, these were the “next generation” of projects that the companies had been working on for decades.

At Vector Software, we love Ada! VectorCAST/Ada was our first product for unit testing Ada code back in 1994 and we are still actively maintaining it and adding new integrations and features. So from my perspective, Ada is not quite dead yet!

Winter, on the other hand, seems to be making a graceful exit. Although I did get caught in that horrible storm that northern New York and Vermont got last week. I actually got my rental car stuck in the snow trying to leave the hotel parking lot on the way to my meeting, which I ended up being late for unfortunately. The guy who shoveled me out said I had “summer tires” on the car. I guess we in Rhode Island don’t have a need for the whole “snow tire” thing, but that is obviously not the case north of here.
